March-April Events
The new topic for March and April has been released.
Resolved: Targeted killing is a morally permissible foreign policy tool.
Tournaments for this topic include the National Forensic League State Tournament at Centre College (the weekend of March 17) and the Jefferson County Debate League Final Championship Tournament (the weekend of March 31), with banquet and Wilson Wyatt Scholarship dinner at Churchill Downs.
January-February Topic etc!
The new topic is as follows.
Resolved: It is morally permissible for victims to use deadly force as a deliberate response to repeated domestic violence.
Tournaments we will be attending on this topic include the Henry Clay Tournament (Henry Clay High School, Lexington, KY), January JCDL (Fern Creek High School, Louisville, KY), the Harvard Debate Tournament (Harvard University, Cambridge, MA), and the Vestavia Hills Tournament (Vestavia Hills High School, Birmingham, AL).

November/December Tournaments
After returning from Glenbrooks, the team has a busy month of December ahead.
December 3-5 is the Ohio Valley Invitational at UK, and the Fern Creek/KCD Swing is December 10-11 at Fern Creek High School.
For novices, there will be a novice only JCDL at Trinity High School on December 3rd.
November-December Topic!
Resolved: Individuals have a moral obligation to assist people in need.
Tournaments on this topic include the November JCDL, Glenbrooks, and the Ohio Valley Invitational.
Victory Briefs will be sent out ASAP.
Congratulations to Michael Moorin & Meghamsh Kanuparthy
Michael won the varsity LD division at the Wake Forest Early Bird tournament on a 4-3 vote against Michael Harris from Loyola and earning the season’s first bid to the Tournament of Champions. Meghamsh came in second in the JV LD division, losing on a 5-2 vote in the final round to Stephanie Kelley from Cardinal Gibbons.

In final LD rounds at Wake Forest
Michael and Meghamsh have both advanced to the final round in their respective divisions (varsity & JV). For Michael, this means earning a bid to the Tournament of Champions!
Wake Forest Early Bird update, Saturday 3 pm
We’ll update this post with results as they come in.
As of 8:45 PM Friday, all three of our varsity LD entrants are 1-0.
SATURDAY UPDATE, 12 NOON: As of the end of round three – halfway through prelims – Michael Moorin (VLD) and Meghamsh Kanuparthy (JVLD) are undefeated. The rest of our LD debaters are 1-2 with strong speaker points so far.
UPDATE, 3 PM: Michael and Meghamsh are undefeated (4-0) and 1st speaker in varsity LD and JV LD respectively.
